In that balance between old and new, we saw the path that Japanese microbrands should pursue. That’s why we believed from the beginning—our workshop had to be here.
Masami Watanabe has spent over 30 years in the watch industry, beginning with the introduction of overseas luxury timepieces into the Japanese market. Over time, he helped establish respected microbrands and curated Japan-exclusive collaborations, connecting global watchmaking with local collectors.
Through this journey, he was inspired by how independent brands abroad drew strength from local culture and reinterpreted tradition for a modern audience. Wondering why Japan had so few such examples, Watanabe set out to create a truly Japanese microbrand—one rooted in authenticity, refinement, and the uncompromising spirit of craftsmanship.

The word KIWAME (極) means to pursue something to its very limits, without compromise.
This philosophy informs every stage of our work—from design and production to the way we set our prices.
