The USUKI(浅黄) model brings together the strength of a field watch with the quiet elegance of Japanese design. While it shares the three-dimensional applied Arabic numeral indices of the KUROTSUKI, their character is entirely different here. Each index is finished in black coating, creating shadows that shift with the angle of light, lending both sharpness and a subdued presence. The depth of the coating, combined with the sculpted forms, offers a contrast distinct from bare metal surfaces.
The dial color itself is a special execution based on Usuki (浅黄), a traditional Japanese hue. Slightly warmer and deeper than ivory, this yellow-tinted tone was achieved through repeated prototyping and subtle adjustments in color balance. The result is a shade that conveys both softness and refinement, adding a quiet warmth to the classic composition. Complementing this palette, the seconds hand is heat-blued steel, its deep blue glow standing out against the gentle Usuki background and creating a subtle rhythm on the dial.
The syringe-style hands, inspired by military timepieces, are given a rounded, three-dimensional profile that balances presence with elegance. Two types of luminous paint are applied to the hour, minute, and minute track—one glowing blue, the other green—ensuring legibility at any time of day. The luminous tip of the seconds hand is shaped after the sweeping roofline of Asakusa’s Kaminarimon gate, symbolically reflecting the scenery of the brand’s origin.
The case measures 38mm in diameter and 9.5mm in thickness, restrained in its proportions yet comfortable on the wrist with a 46mm lug-to-lug length. Despite its slim profile, it offers 100m of water resistance, uniting the refinement of a dress watch with the practicality of a field watch. Finishing details include hairline brushing on the bezel top and case flanks, paired with mirror polishing on the bezel side and case front—contrasts that give the case a rich dimensionality.
The buckle design also draws inspiration from the Kaminarimon gate at Sensō-ji Temple, condensing architectural strength and traditional Japanese character into a small but meaningful detail that completes the watch’s narrative.
Inside, the USUKI is powered by a Japanese automatic movement and secured with 10 ATM of water resistance. It is a watch made for everyday reliability, yet deeply rooted in Asakusa’s cultural heritage—a design that quietly carries local identity into a broader, timeless context.
